Workshop information
Yorgos works with the exhilarating sense of freedom and release that performers experience when they dive inside the body.Through durational movement practices and music, performers open up physically and emotionally, ground themselves down, and discover their qualities (mind, body, emotion).
They experience their full strenth/capacity, which is often hidden under layers of performing habits, emotional resistance or simply trying too hard.
From that freeing place, moving, acting, improvising and performing is impulsive, enjoyable and effortless.
The acting training focuses on physical grounding and identification of the individual’s qualities.
The training places great emphasis on the development of each individual, which can be invaluable to improve yourself as an actor and physical performer.
Yorgos gives practical tools to explore/enrich existing qualities and release the restricting habits.
The work applies to film work as it brings performers and actors to a grounded realistic place.

The company offer directing residencies and workshops in their unique style of physical theatre for university level students which are led by one or both of the company’s Artistic Director’s who are well known for their energetic teaching style and encouraging participants to push their barriers through training and improvisation.
The company have worked with numerous drama and dance institutes including, LIPA, RADA, LAMDA, Archi Drama School (Athens), ESMAE (Porto) and Salford University as well as schools nationally.

ALL RESIDENCIES AND WORKSHOPS ARE SUITABLE FOR BOTH DANCE AND DRAMA STUDENTS
DIRECTING RESIDENCIES (FROM ONE WEEK TO ONE MONTH IN LENGTH)
The company train daily in their unique methods, and create a piece of devised work with the students, resulting in a professional level performance at the end of the residency.
The company can decide on a theme or story or can create a production with adapted from a script/ story of your choice. Each project will be specifically catered to your desired outcomes, including assessment requirements.
TEACHING RESIDENCIES (FROM ONE WEEK TO ONE TERM IN LENGTH)
Tmesis Theatre’s teaching residencies take the students on a vigorous and in-depth physical theatre training programme, which looks at body awareness, expression, basic acrobatics, choreographing sequences, creating characters, text and physicality and devising physical work.
We can structure an ongoing program to suit your needs, time-table and budget.
PHYSICAL THEATRE WORKSHOPS (FROM 2 HOURS TO 2 DAYS IN LENGTH)
Tmesis Theatre workshops give an introduction to the company’s powerful training methods focusing on strength, flexibility, rhythm and expression and offer tools in their unique ways of creating and devising work. The company particularly look at pushing barriers through creating abstract and dynamic ways of using the body which break habitual patterns.

The company can deliver workshops specifically designed to suit your needs or to help students physicalise a piece they are working on. Workshops the company can offer include, ‘Creating Tmesis’, Physical Theatre, Creating duets, Physical theatre and text and workshops in Tmesis’ unique style of movement based theatre.
