TMESIS TRAINING COMPANY

The Tmesis Training Company is a professional performance project for emerging physical performers, offering high quality training, a quality performance, and a route into the industry. Previous members have gone on to work with Tmesis professionally on their touring shows. This is a unique opportunity in the North West!

It was a great opportunity to develop my skill set and perform. I was able to meet and work with likeminded and brilliant creatives who were so supportive of one another. This opportunity has allowed me to delve deeper into physical theatre, something I didn’t have much experience with prior, and now I would love to explore it further.’

‘Provided a platform for creative physical exploration with other minds and bodies of varied background, experience and ambition. It sharpened my skills in devising and collaborating, and gave me a way in to the UK Physical Theatre scene.’

“I gained confidence in myself again as an actor who can dabble in movement and physical theatre something I’d really lost since graduating drama school as I wasn’t a dancer which is what I thought you needed to be to be a physical theatre performer! I learnt so much from being part of the festival, not only how supportive the community of Physical Fest is but the breadth of talent too. I was so inspired by the different shows we saw..no two were alike and yet there were things from each one I learnt and took away. “

‘To be working in a very intense and condensed way with a clear end goal was extremely rewarding and motivational. The training was unique in that it was rooted in professional practice by the ensemble working very closely alongside the professional company.’

“Becoming a part of the company gave me a chance to challenge my artistic practice. In a short space of time my assumed skills were tested and expanded in to new skills. There was a heartwarming sense of community, because of the way the whole team worked together to create an experience that was exciting and engaging for the audience.”

In June 2021 for the first time, our training company worked along side our professional company on a site-specific production, in a beautiful hidden gem, the Albert Walker Hall at the Linacre Methodist Mission, made for Physical Fest 2021.

Memoria was a poetic, visceral exploration of memory and nostalgia, exploring what past lives leave behind, what lives within walls and what lives on in our collective present.

This was a beautiful, moving, and evocative journey through the time of a building, its people, and their emotions which brought out my own tears of sadness and joy.’ North West End ★★★★★
